The 6th AEC+8 Gems and Jewellery Presidents’ Summit successfully held in Myanmar

On August 4th, 2017, the sixth ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) plus 8 jewellery presidents’ summit was successfully held at Myanmar International Convention Center in Nay Pyi Taw, while the 54th Myanmar Gem Emporium was in full swing. ASEAN member states (Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Kampuchea, Laos, Burma, Vietnam, Singapore) and Partner countries and regions include China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, American, Turkey and some district representatives in Jewellery industry participated the summit. Guangdong Gems & Jade Exchange (hereinafter referred to as “GDGJE”) was invited to the summit as Guangdong representatives.
About Summit
It was the sixth summit since ASEAN jewellery presidents’ summit was held firstly by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA). The summit aims to promote close cooperation in jewellery industry between ASEAN member states and Partner countries and regions. Among them, the 1th-3th summit was held in Thailand, the 4th summit was held in Malaysia, and the 5th session was held in Vietnam. The news was professed that the next host country will be China at this 6th summit.

Pageantry of Summit
The summit was held by the Myanmar Gems and jewellery Entrepreneurs Association (MGJEA), covering some major aspects including collaborative development of "brainstorming" in AEC + 8 countries and regions, panel discussion (two topics about Myanmar natural gem and value added supply chain ) and so on, which focued on the topics“ comprehensive development of gems and jewellery industry along the supply chain to achieve synergic effect” and emphasized economic policies among AEC +8 jewellery industry. And, it aimed to promote the implementation and the construction of more closely joint development system, and constantly improved the standard of the jewellery industry chain. Meanwhile, Thailand was elected to become the new rotating presidency of AEC jewelry summit.

The representatives of the ASEAN and its partner states and regions includes Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Turkey and so on, which are the main important industrial areas being rich in Gems and Jewelry resources, having developed jewelry manufacturing industry and closely trading with Chinese jewelry.Take this summit as an opportunity, GDGJE interacted with all ASEAN countries and regions closely and actively establish friendly relationships with them.

The appearance of GDGJE at Summit arose great attention from media
In the future, Based on industry of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and "One Belt and One Road" national strategy, and through the depth cooperation in trade, education and training, origin traceability, standard system and etc with ASEAN members, GDGJE will actively build a bridge for Chinese market and the ASEAN gem industries to communicate and trade with each other, in order to widely service jewellery industry at home and abroad!
